【International Research Project on Civil Society and Governance】

As part of the Japan Interest Group Study (JIGS) project conducted by the Research Group on the Fundamental Structure of Groups at the University of Tsukuba, we have conducted a survey of civil society organizations and social groups in 15 countries around the world to conduct a comparative analysis of the relationship between politics and society in each country.

In particular, we have elucidated the unequal structure of interest representation by examining the actual situation of political participation and political influence of interest groups and civil society organizations.

In recent years, we have focused on local governance, aiming to elucidate the role of civil society and local communities in local government governance through comparisons of Asian countries.
